Manisonair

Dedrick Clark, of the Social Animals was the opening act for the night. Clark brought not only amazing vocal talent but laughter with his jokes and connectivity to the audience. Clark was very open about telling his struggling and experiences with being an artist as he explained the meaning behind some of his songs, some of which being funny stories.

Now I have to fan-boy a little bit here. I was excited to see Mansionair because when I had found them in middle school, it was difficult to feel included when relating to people with music. Mansionair provides not only vocals but amazing instrumentals and design with their music. This is something important to little me as I didn’t associate with modern pop or rap.

Mansionair came out with more energy than any group I have seen at A&R Music Bar, making them worthy of a larger venue next time they come to Columbus, Ohio. They never asked the fans to move around but were met with jumping and hands freely moving in the air. The band explained their hardships with finding new fans in this era and the difficulties with touring around the Pandemic. Middle school me would’ve geeked if I got to see this group perform “Easier” as they did. Instead I had to hold my camera up in the air as I jumped around trying to avoid dropping my career.

Thank you to the merch table workers who secured me a press pass at the venue.
