Cousin Simple
The band was awesome enough to stay after for some questions and photos. Harsh, the lead of the group, was super helpful in organizing everything even though he had fans waiting to congratulate him. Harsh’s amazing high energy performance had the audience chanting to songs, even if they didn’t know the lyrics at first.
Thank you to Harsh for getting everyone together after the show.
Below the gallery will be the interview with Cousin Simple.
Cousin Simple Interview:
Liam: Coming from Columbus, Ohio and normally playing in smaller venues, what does it mean to play at a festival like Wonderstruck and Wonderbus?
Harsh: Playing here means seeing a bunch of new fans and getting to meet new people is awesome.
Ryan: It’s our first out of town festival too
Liam: Is there anyone here, anyone on your favorite lyrics highlight reel on your Instagram or anyone in general that you guys would love to collaborate with?
Mitch: Saint motel would be fun to work with.
Harsh: I think Jack Antonoff with Bleachers would be my dream person to collaborate with and I think he’s pretty sick and I love his stage presence.
Liam: Following the release of your music video for “All my Movies” what is the inspiration behind that?
Harsh: I think the inspiration behind that is being tired of feeling like you’re the bad guy or feeling guilty. Then I kind of interpreted that through 80’s movies like “Say Anything”
Liam: You guys have played at a bunch of venues, which one is your favorite and why?
Dave: Can we just shout out the Union in Athens, Ohio. Athens always comes out for us and they party down there and we always have a great time.
Liam: So how did this group start out? Your introduction on stage mentioned this group has been together since middle making music.
Harsh: Yeah that’s pretty much where it started you know was middle school. We played a Coldplay cover of the Scientist for our 8th grade graduating class of 27 people and after that we decided to keep on playing music. The collective 27 people started all crying together at the same time and I bet the people there were like what the heck is going on here.
Luke: They probably said “these guys are gonna be great someday, they are gonna make millions of people cry”.
Liam: Last question now, out of all of your songs which one is your favorite?
Harsh: Tough question, I love them all equally.
Luke: I think the song I was most excited to get the master back was “You want it you got it”.
Ryan: Yeah shout out to James Harper from Spirited of the Bear for that.
Dave: Another deep cut is “Nothing Sweeter”. People love that song and its nice to lay back and sing that beautiful song with people.
Harsh: Thanks man, that’s the first song we ever wrote.
